NAACP Launch New High Tech "Rapid Response System" to Help Citizens Report Police Misconduct
An innovative national program to help fight crime in American cities and towns will be unveiled Monday, July 13th at the NAACP Centennial Convention in New York City.
The initiative includes a bold new online effort, the NAACP Rapid Response System (RRS), a quick, effective way for citizens to report instances of police misconduct, and to help public safety officials move beyond the “tough on crime” policies that have lost their effectiveness.
The 2009 American Recovery & Reinvestment Act Information and Resources
The NAACP is committed to ensuring fairness and transparency in the distribution of the 2009 Recovery Act funds. This resource guide was developed to provide an overview of the Act’s primary funding areas and to present the programmatic areas in which the NAACP is most ripe for engagement, given its existing policies in each area. Also included is information regarding how small business owners of color can maximize access to resources. In addition to the overview that we have prepared, our partners at the Center for Social Inclusion have prepared a number of resources that we felt would be helpful to our units. These resources include talking points regarding transparency and fairness in the process and a description of how NAACP branches can play a critical role in the identification of “missed opportunities” with regard to the appropriation of stimulus funds.
